President Nixon decided he had a perfect plan to put a cease to the Vietnam war. He decided he would come up with a plan called “Vietnamization”. The plan of Vietnamization is when President Nixon decided to pull troops from Vietnam, because there was no hope of winning the war, the pressure that was being put on President Nixon at home with all of U.S citizens complaining and criticizing the government. Nixon actually escalated the war in Vietnam because he was giving South Vietnamese armies the USA military weapons, at this time he was still sending U.S troops over to Vietnam. Nixon was traveling in Asia when he was advised by an anonymous person that told you him “when trying to help another country fight for its freedom, that the U.S policy should be to assist them in war but not actually be out there doing the fighting for them. The U.S sometimes gets carried away when trying to help another country in war by fighting the war for them and not getting to involved with it. The U.S always ends up getting themselves into the mix”. In 5 years of this war President Nixon will withdraw the troops from Vietnam, but by this time Americans will fill it’s little too late. Nixon’s excuse will be that South Vietnam is getting stronger and so was the U.S military. The problem was the exact opposite, U.S troops are dying and it is not looking like we could when the war. He is thinking of the future and what impact his decision can make on the next generation of people. The plan of Vietnamization has been created trying to win the peace of us Americans at home. As Americans we like to try to figure out problems by ourselves and not ask for help when we reall need it. Even after the troops were being withdraw the war was still going on because he was still paying for the weapons and providing South Vietnam with whatever they needed. The reason Nixon is still providing for South Vietnam because Presidents before his time said “A nation cannot remain great if it betrays its allies and let’s down its friends” meaning that if you want trade and allies for the future you want other countries to be able to trust you and not think you are unreliable. Or if we get defeated in South Vietnam Nixon will See that as humiliation or shame to his country we won’t seem as powerful to other countries anymore. This is why the troops are being pulled but we are still cooperating With South Vietnam.
